Proposal of 10,000 billion to build new Binh Trieu bridge and expand 2 roads
On the afternoon of July 11, information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said that according to the planning for the development of the Ho Chi Minh City transport network with a vision after 2020 approved by the Prime Minister and the general planning project for the construction of Binh Thanh district, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street (from Hanh Xanh intersection to Binh Trieu Bridge) is planned to have a cross-section width of 30-40m (currently only 20m wide). Dinh Bo Linh Street (from Binh Trieu Bridge to Dien Bien Phu Street) is planned to have a cross-section width of 25m (currently about 21m wide).
With a large population density in the area and high traffic demand, these two routes are often overloaded and congested, especially during rush hours.
According to the Department of Transport, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh and Dinh Bo Linh streets are main urban routes, directly connecting National Highway 13; they are gateways, connecting regions (directly connecting beltways, national highways, and expressways). In 2025, National Highway 13 will be expanded to 60m to connect with Binh Duong.
In that situation, the Department of Transport has proposed that the City People's Committee include these two routes in the investment plan for developing key transport projects and works, prioritizing implementation in the period of 2024-2030 as a basis for implementation.
In particular, upgrading and expanding Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street (from Hang Xanh intersection to Binh Trieu 1 Bridge) with a length of 2.0km, width of 30-40m and building the Dai Liet Sy intersection according to the roundabout plan combined with the underpass.
For Dinh Bo Linh Street (Binh Trieu Bridge to Dien Bien Phu Street), it will be upgraded and expanded with a length of 2km, width of 25m. In particular, this plan also proposes to build a new Binh Trieu Bridge with 6 lanes, including 2 units, each unit is 11.5m wide, 560m long.
Implementation period 2024-2030 (investment preparation period 2024-2025). The total investment for the above 2 projects is about 10,000 billion VND, from the State budget.
Binh Trieu Bridge previously had an old bridge, which after a long period of use became overloaded, so the city had to build a new parallel bridge, which was completed in 2003. Faced with increasing traffic pressure, the city's transportation sector proposed building a new Binh Trieu Bridge.
